Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since the end of the 1980s. Since the mid 80s she has been working in film and TV. She's received numerous awards including sixteen NAACP Image Awards. Bassett, who was raised in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt, who was born in New York New York, is an acclaimed actress. Her mother split with her father at around five. Bassett and her younger sister then went to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play when she was in highschool and realized that acting is what she wanted to do. The year was 1980 and Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with a degree in African American studies. She was also awarded a degree by the Yale School of Drama. The year 1997 was the time she married Courtney B. Vance who was a fellow actor. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree on African American studies in the year 1980.
